Ivotavares design studio, photographed by Patricia Almeida ::: UMBRELLA SKY

http://www.mymodernmet.com/profiles/blogs/colorful-floating-umbrellas-portugal

Umbrella Sky is an instillation suspended over an Agueda street. It was do by a Portuguese design studio Ivotavares. It was done in order to stimulate a tradition shopping street into and engaging visual experience. It is hung over a series of promenades, colorful umbrellas transforms shopping streets into an engaging visual experience. The photos were shot by photographer Patricia Almedia.

The reason I love this so much is because a design studio did this just for fun, and to do it. It wasn't asked of them, they did it just for the purpose of creating art that not only they enjoyed but the people. I love all the colors used when making this piece. The umbrellas stick to 5 colors and are not done in a pattern but rather balanced through out the street. They accented the umbrellas above with the colored pieces wrapped around the polls. I also love the fact they laid down the green fake grass. This gives you a feeling of walking through the grass and being under the shade of trees- instead of trees its umbrellas. I am so inspired to connect with people just like these artists did and to use multiple colors to decorate the outside world.
